New Reference Guides to the Mental Health Act 1983 are being published, to take account of the changes made by the Mental Health Act 2007.

 The Reference Guide to the Mental Health Act 1983 was published on 17/9/08 and explains the Act and secondary legislation as the law will stand on 3/11/08. It replaces the Mental Health Act Memorandum, but only applies to England.
| A separate Welsh reference guide will be published in due course.
