Code of Practice Mental Health Act 1983

The Code of Practice provides guidance on how the Mental Health Act 1983 should be applied. The current Code, which applies to England & Wales, is the 1999 revision.

A new code will come into force in England from 3 November 2008. A separate Code for Wales is expected to be published in October 2008. The new Codes reflect changes made to the Mental Health Act 1983 by the Mental Health Act 2007.
